Isosceles Graduate Accountant: A conversation with our CEO?

Isosceles Graduate Accountant and Harlequins Winger Heather Cowell built on her debut success in November to score another try, this time to help the England Women rugby team thrash the USA 89-0.

Heather joined Isosceles in January 2019 and balances her studying and work at Isosceles with her international sporting career.

Isosceles CEO Mike O’Connell celebrates Heather’s remarkable success and applauds the work of her colleagues.

“Everyone at Isosceles is delighted for Heather,” Mike says. “What the casual supporter doesn’t see is the years of dedication and commitment that has allowed her to achieve so much in her sport.”

“We have worked with Heather for the past three years and observed her dedication first-hand,” Mike explains.

When Heather isn’t working at Isosceles, she is studying for her accountancy exams or training with her teammates.

Commenting on Heather’s other often-overlooked talent, Mike says: “Unbeknownst to most people, Heather was a world-class gymnast before starting her rugby career.”

“We salute her undoubted talent, dedication, hard work and focus.”

“I would also like to applaud the work of Heather’s colleagues whom she works alongside”

“Without their support, it would have been more challenging for her to balance her work as and sporting career,” Mike explains.

Heather has had to go on training camps at short notice, and that’s meant the rest of the team has had to absorb the client responsibilities. Everyone at Isosceles hopes this support has helped Heather achieve her sporting goals.

“Heather is a role model for young people and other aspiring sportspeople,” Mike explains. “It is tremendously impressive to see her pursue her sporting dream but also have the dedication and commitment to a career as a chartered accountant.”

“Heather has pivoted from one world-class activity to another, and this is inspirational.”

“One wonders, if Heather was representing England’s men’s team would she need an additional career to support herself?” Mike considers.

Fortunately for Isosceles, the answer is ‘yes’ but maybe for the future of women’s rugby the answer should be ‘no’.

“Women’s rugby and football are becoming mainstream”

“Anyone who saw the tries in the game would immediately notice that it is a high-quality sport,” Mike celebrates.

“Heather is at the forefront of driving that popularity in the women’s game amongst the next generation of rugby supporters.”

More recently, Heather played a key role in guiding England Women to their biggest win in a decade by scoring once to crush the USA 89-0.
