Case Study: Sage 200 systems implementation for manufacturing company

This client is a rapidly expanding manufacturing company with revenues of around £15m. They are based in the UK with a burgeoning Asia operation.

They originally came to Isosceles, requiring a part-time finance director with manufacturing experience, knowledge of doing business in Asia, and hands-on experience obtaining funding.

The Requirement

After an intense few months with funding in place and the Hong Kong operation formalised and in a steady state, the specialist part-time finance director moved away, and a new team took on the role of light-touch mentoring and project support so the existing finance team could ask for additional support as and when required.

In this new role, our first project was to help with a Sage 200 implementation that had not gone smoothly.

They had started transitioning from Sage 50 to Sage 200 as the business had outgrown Sage 50, and Sage 200 offered the more advanced reporting they needed.  However, the project had not gone well, and the new system was incomplete and error-riddled.

This client spent large amounts of money on external consultants, but after 18 months of muddling through, they asked Isosceles for help as their statutory account deadline was a few weeks away.

The Solution

Isosceles has a Sage 200 specialist on the team.

Isosceles quickly got to work with the finance team, working to very tight timescales, to write, agree and implement the project plan to:

  • Eliminate existing implementation errors
  • Input all remaining data and complete the transition
  • Reconcile the data
  • Produce a correct set of management and statutory accounts before the deadline
  • Develop a management reporting system
  • Ensurw the finance team was adequately trained to manage the Sage 200 system

The Results

  • Our client felt fully supported through a frustrating and worrying period when they had no accounting system
  • They have a good quality implementation of Sage 200
  • They met the accounts submission deadline
  • The finance function has regained its credibility within the organisation
  • They now have a functioning and appropriate management reporting system in place, accessible by the whole senior leadership team
